The history of Precision Products Group, Inc. (PPG) is the history of Stone Industrial and Paramount Tube. A big part of our collective history is the development of the spiral winding process that stems from the spiral-wound paper straw invented by Marvin Stone in 1888 and 1927 square and rectangular paper tube manufacturing primarily for the electrical transformer industry.

Stone Founded – Washington, D.C
1920’s
Spiral wound paper tubing first introduced as insulation.
1927
Paramount Founded – Fort Wayne, IN; the reciprocating winder was developed and patented
1957
Stone Industrial developed the first continuous winder.
1962
Stone Industrial expands capabilities to include plastic winding
1971
J.L Clark, formerly headquartered in Rockford, IL, purchases Stone Industrial
1986
J.L Clark purchases Paramount Tube
1987 – 1988
J.L Clark changes name to Clarcor, and forms Precision Products Group, comprised of Stone Industrial, Paramount Tube, Michigan Spring, and TImms Spring
1992
Precision Products Group (PPG) purchased by LaSalle Capital Group
1994
PPG purchases Insulation Sales and consolidates in Stone Industrial
2004
Hong Kong JV established and business License for PPG Fusheng – WOFE obtained
2006
Hong Kong JV was established in 2006 and equipment from “WOFE” was moved to wholly-owned (by JV) facility in Huizhou, China
2008
Precision Products Group spring companies sold to Hines Corporation
2013
PPG purchased by present ownership: LPC – Greyrock
2014
PPG acquires Phenix Tube
2015
PPG acquires Euclid Spiral Tube
2016
Stone Industrial, Euclid Spiral, and Phoenix Tube merge into Paramount Tube
PPG products now represent more than 70,000 customer engineered part numbers that are produced on a made-to-order basis for over 900 customers. These products are produced from more than 100 different material specifications that are inventoried in quantities to meet our customers’ delivery expectations.
